F*** My Peace Corps Life.

Some days, all you can do is laugh.

My coworkers were shocked and dismayed to discover I am not yet married; they told me I was "stupid" to wait until I finish my service to start having children, because I will be "so old" that all my offspring will be "mongoloids." I'm 24. FMPCL.

Got ditched on the side of the road because I wouldn't preemptively pay a driver a 10,000 shilling ($120, or 2/3 of our monthly stipend) bribe "just in case" for a police checkpoint up ahead. Did I mention it's the rainy season and I had luggage? FMPCL.

Some local shit rats showed up uninvited to our Easter celebration and stole a bunch of stuff. When we confronted them, a huge brawl broke out. Some villagers heard about it and the shit rats got their asses beat on their way home.

Took a bus across my island, 17km. In a section that should hold 10 people, we had 23 adults. My seat is leaking gasoline all over me. Normal length of trip by motorcycle: 25 minutes. By bus: 1.5 hours. At least thats down from 3 hours last week.

Endured 7 hours of the worst possible transport to go only 130km. The best part was I had dysentary and had to hold the pee coming out of my butt the entire time. Natives kept poking me offering me corn.

What's with this site?

Don't things happen to you every now and then as PCVs that are just too weird, uncomfortable, or unbelievable to not share? The two of us behind this site served in West Africa, and we'd like to hear all of your FMPCL moments. Share away!

Check out the glossary if you're finding any tricky acronyms or veiled speech.

Do I need an account?

Absolutely not! Just solve the basic math and post away! If you want to avoid the math (we can't blame you) go ahead and create an account. We don't ask for (or want) your name, location or phone number. All you need is an email with which to authenticate yourself.

This service has been brought to you by the struggles and suffering of Peace Corps Volunteers worldwide. Lucky them.
